Re-elect Jeremy Solomon as EC Director

Focused on Members. Focused on Workplace Issues.

I’m seeking another term to continue working within CAPE to advance member rights and the workplace issues that affect us directly.

Seeking re-election for the January 1, 2027–December 31, 2029 term

A clear purpose

CAPE’s resources should work for members.

CAPE has limited time, staff capacity and member resources. I believe its time, money and advocacy should remain focused on the workplace issues members rely on their union to address: working conditions, labour relations and collective bargaining.

A union focused on members—and open about how it makes decisions.

What members can expect

Practical representation, grounded in the workplace

01

Workplace focus

Keep CAPE’s attention and resources on the conditions, rights and negotiations that shape members’ working lives.

02

Transparency

Make it easier for members to see how decisions are made and how their dues are used.

03

Member voice

Give every member a reasonable opportunity to participate and vote on decisions that affect them.

04

Practical representation

Use evidence, workplace realities and direct member feedback to guide union action.

Continuity you can measure

The priorities I ran on are reflected in my first term.

I ran in 2023 on better communication, transparency, greater member involvement and a stronger workplace focus. During the 2024–2026 term, I worked on those same commitments.

01
Workforce Adjustment

Keeping job security on the national agenda

I ensured Workforce Adjustment became a standing item on the National Executive Committee agenda, so WFA, workforce reductions and job-security concerns remain regularly before CAPE’s national leadership—not only when a crisis occurs.

02
Return to Office

Pushing back on blanket rules

During this term, I pushed CAPE to push back against the employer’s Return-to-Office approach. I believe onsite attendance should be based on genuine operational need, with meaningful telework flexibility where that need does not exist.

03
Transparency

Supporting openness every time

I voted in favour of every transparency motion that came before me and submitted several transparency motions myself. Some were defeated, but the principle remains: members deserve to know how their union operates.

04
Financial clarity

Knowing the cost before voting

As a member of CAPE’s Finance Committee, I worked to ensure clear financial costs were attached to member resolutions so members could understand the consequences of proposals before voting.

Member democracy

Your right to vote should not depend on your ability to attend one meeting.

Meetings and discussion matter. But mandatory attendance should not be the key that unlocks a member’s vote. Members with family responsibilities, disabilities, different schedules, geographic constraints or limited time should still have a reasonable opportunity to participate.

Read my commitments on transparency and member voice

All members should be able to vote on:

  • Member resolutions
  • Union elections
  • Bargaining-path decisions
  • Ratification of collective agreements

Why I’m running again

To continue the work—not to change the subject.

The issues I ran on in 2023 still matter. Another term is an opportunity to continue advancing member rights, keep workplace issues in front of CAPE’s leadership, improve access to information and make meaningful member participation easier.

Why I’m seeking another term

Stay in touch

An EC Director shouldn’t only hear from members at election time.

I have stayed active in member social-media groups, shared NEC agendas and minutes, and asked members directly for feedback. If you have a question or a workplace issue you want to discuss, please write to me.
