I was disappointed by last night’s EC vice-presidential debate. All the comments were pre-written, and there was little opportunity for a real exchange between candidates. Candidates should not receive the questions in advance. Members should be able to hear candidates respond directly, explain their positions and address different views. That helps us assess their judgment and how they would represent us. Prepared statements have their place, but a debate should give members something more.
A note from Jeremy Solomon.
