Members should know what their dues will fund and have clear information before approving a budget. During review of CAPE’s most recent budget, I submitted motions to significantly reduce spending. Those proposed reductions were defeated. The higher budget will now go to the NEC and, ultimately, to members for approval. My work on CAPE’s Finance Committee has also included seeking clear financial costs for member resolutions. Whether reviewing a budget or a resolution, members deserve to understand the financial implications before they vote.
